Farmers Market Goodies

C. and I spent last weekend on our own while T. was gone for work. So we made it a girls’ weekend packed with fun activities including an early morning bike ride to the farmer’s market. We don’t make it to the farmer’s market as often as I’d like to because C. still takes a late morning nap. Although she’s down to one nap a day, it’s at 10 am, limiting our window of time to do things out of the house in the mornings. But this past Saturday, we made it out the door as soon as we finished breakfast, our sights set on fresh food, live music, and possibly a familiar face or two.

That look :)

Get ready for me to be gushing about fall bike rides a lot more before the season’s over. It’s just so breathtakingly beautiful outside right now and just so perfect for traveling by bike. Fall is one thing that the Midwest sure knows how to do right.

After some detouring, we did make it to the farmer’s market, where we did run into friends. Including my friend Statia, who makes these beautiful soaps and beauty products right in her own home. I was so excited to happen upon her stand and to treat myself to the lavender soap and lipbalm. If you’re not a local, you can find her beautiful products on her website (Bluestem Soap and Sundries) and in her Etsy shop.

After running into a few more friendly faces, listening to a couple of songs and teaching C. to drop a buck into the musicians’ guitar case, we took in a quick snack by our parked bike and pedaled home. Just in time for one exhausted baby to drift off into nap land.

Mission “farmer’s market by naptime” – successful!
