Are you tired of my book posts yet? I hope not, because I have one more fun book to share with you that would make a perfect gift this holiday season. Here’s another gem by a fellow blogger and cyclist, Jessica Cassity. Jessica guest posted here while I was on maternity leave, check out her wonderful interview with NYC photographer Dmitry Gudkov on his Bike NYC series. Jessica is the fitness editor at Prevention magazine and blogs regularly at The Happy and Healthy Blog.
When Jessica asked me to take a look at her new book, I was delighted. It’s been on my coffee table ever since it arrived and I’ve been picking it up and reading one tip a day every day since I turned 29. I said I’d make this year a hell of a year and working my way through the 365 expert tips on health and happiness seemed like as good of a place to start as any.
My favorites so far? “Learn a language to boost your memory” (tip#265) – I’m a language instructor and somewhat biased here – and “Affirm your appreciation with written thanks” (tip#207). It’s the little things that make us smile each day, such as getting a thank you card from a friend or a bouquet of flowers unexpectedly. I want to be the kind of person who does this for others, unprompted and for no other reason than to make a friend feel special and appreciated. Want to hear a few more of the tips found within the book? Check out the book trailer here and catch a glimpse of Jessica biking on her cute commuter bike as well!
I’m so in awe of all these creative bloggers who are putting together these great projects. I hope that by sharing these with you, I’ve inspired you to go ahead and work on that thing you’ve been meaning to do; start writing that book, begin that exercise plan, learn that new skill, and do that thing you’ve always wanted to do but keep putting off for when you have more time. I guess that’s my (by no means expert) tip on a healthier, happier life: today is as good a day as any to start living your dreams.
