This past weekend, I had the pleasure of meeting a good friend for brunch. With a new baby, it’s rare that I get to go out for a meal with friends, let alone that I get to bike there, so I was thrilled when T. agreed to stay behind with our two month old and let me bike to brunch.
Fall continues to turn the town all kinds of beautiful shades of red, gold, and orange and there’s nothing better than taking that all in by bike. I took the long route to the cafe, savoring each mile and enjoying the morning breeze. Once there, I found my friend H. already waiting by her bike, ready to lock it up next to mine and eager for us to catch up.
I ordered the same thing I always get for brunch and we sat outside, happily enjoying what’s likely to be one of the last weekends where brunch outdoors is possible. We talked about our work, our kids, books, and whateverelse crossed our minds, and it was so nice to enjoy a bike date with her just like I used to.
After polishing off our meal, she got back on her bike and left for the library and I got back on mine and set out for home, where my little family was waiting. There we put on our hiking shoes and packed a lunch and set out for a walk in the woods. But that’s a post for another day.
I hope your weekend was just as delightful! Here’s to a good week too! ♥

What a glorious day! I’m so glad to see you back on your bike and enjoying the things that make you, you.
Also, I’m terribly jealous of your leaves; the trees in Central Park are just beginning to develop a tinge of gold along the edges.
So pretty! It’s turned officially wet-awful in Seattle (am wearing running tights and wool socks under jeans and a hoodie to stay warm while writing!), but maybe I’ll go for a ride anyhow…after I clean off my fenders.
Yay for bike brunches! If you lived here in Manchester, it would have been lovely to have you joining our Wheelers’ Brunch! :D
