This weeks’s bike date comes from reader Erica, who went on a romantic bike date in New Hampshire, complete with full moon watching over the lake at the end of the night. Thanks for sharing your date with us, Erica and Andy! Here is Erica’s story…
Thanks to Simply Bike, I was inspired to purchase a 1997 Trek bike from a local bike shop and to start riding to yoga and around town for errands. Last weekend, we took the bikes to my boyfriend’s family’s lake house in Rindge, New Hampshire and my son and I had a great ride around the lake Saturday morning while my boyfriend was at his first class in pursuit of his masters degree.
Our bike date took place at Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge, New Hampshire, a beautiful outdoor catherdral ringed in pine trees and with a perfect view of Mount Monadnock. The ride itself was short, about 30 minutes, but almost all uphill, and we arrived to find chains across the entrance.
Not to be deterred on our first bike date, we lifted the chains and had the place to ourselves. The weather was just right as we shared a greek salad and bread, enjoyed the view, and pedaled away – blissfully downhill this time.
We had planned to stop for ice cream on the way home but neither of us thought to bring money; instead we rode through the quaint town of Rindge and made it back to the lake in time to see the full moon rise. It was great first bike date – can’t wait for more!
What are you waiting for? Get out there and go on a bike date!

This is my daughter, Erica, with her boyfriend, Andy. Looks like a lovely day–you two are very inspiring! I think they bought the bike in Coxsackie, NY, on a trip back from visiting us nearby. A New York bicycle!
These pictures are beautiful–it sounds like you had a wonderful day!
