will bike for apples

This weekend we took the bikes out on a 30 mile trail ride in the country side. I wanted to try the Raleigh Grand Prix on a longer ride and I wasn’t disappointed. While there are some notable differences between riding a 30 year old steel bike and a two year old aluminum bike, I’m not convinced that they are all in favor of the newer model. (A more in-depth post on the Grand Prix will follow soon).

Half way on our scenic bike ride, we stumbled across an apple tree in full bloom. The grass around it was covered with apples and its branches hung low with fruit just begging to be picked.

A perfect stopping point. We rested and snacked on sweet and tart apples and enjoyed the slight breeze in the air. This time of year is wonderful; fall is coming, the weather is cooling, but the sun is still out and the days are still long. I wish I could pause the year and enjoy this exact weather for a few more months. But since I can’t do that, I’m trying to make the most of this fleeting season with long bike rides and as much outdoor time as possible.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend filled with bikes, people you love, and fall pleasures as well.
